Honors World History

National Geographic Summaries

During the semester, students will be required to read articles related to history to the year AD 1600  in National Geographic.  Students will  provide an annotation of the source and a summary of the article.  The summary should be two pages typed, double-spaced and the last paragraph should explain how the article correlates to class.  Students are allowed to check out magazines from Ms. Allen, with the understanding that there will be a fee of $5.00 charged for any magazines not returned.

Citation format (appears at the beginning of the summary):

Roman Project

During the semester, students will pull topics related to the Romans and create a poster explaining their topic.  Key elements in the poster should include a large title, dates, visual aids, and pertinent information presented in bullet point form.  Students will be expected to give an oral summary of the project to the class.  Sample posters are available for viewing in the classroom.

 

A Man For All Seasons

This will encompass a series of activities related to the time period of King Henry VIII and Sir Thomas More. 

A.  The mini-biography:  Students will create a mini-biography on an historical person connected to the play and present their person to the class before we view the film.  The mini-biographies will include a large title, dates, a large picture, and bullet-point information about the person as he/she relates to the events being studied.  Sample posters are available for viewing.

B.  After the film, students will choose one of the following activities to do either as an individual project or in a group format:

*Talk Show

*News Program

*Letters between two major characters

*Skit
