AP Human Geography
Grading Policy:
Daily - 25% ( Includes study guides, discussion questions, and other daily activities)
Tests - 50% ( Includes exams, projects, and field studies)
Midterm - 25%
Final Exam - 25% of final average
Purpose: The purpose of the AP course in Human Geography is to introduce students to the systematic study of patterns and processes that have shaped human understanding, use, and alteration of Earth's surface. Students employ spatial concepts and landscape analysis to analyze human social organization and its environmental consequences. They also learn about the methods and tools Geographers use in their science and practice.
Responsibilities of the student: This is an AP course in which there is the possibility of receiving college credit based on a 3 or higher on the AP exam. Students must read the text thoroughly, take notes, participate in class discussions, prepare for exams in advance, and participate in a variety of field/virtual field studies.

Population
Cultural Patterns and Processes
Political Organization of Space
Agriculture and Rural Land Use
Industrialization and Development
Cities and Urban Land Use
The AP exam is two hours in length and consists of a multiple choice section (50%) and a free response section with three essay questions ( 50%).

Students should bring both texts, a 3-ring binder, and pens and pencils to class each day.
