JOOI
Junior Optimist Octagon International (JOOI) is a club totally devoted to community service.
JOOI was formed in 2001 under the sponsorship of the Noon Optimist Club, which meets every Thursday at 12 PM at Ryan's.
We are open to anyone who cares about community service and would like to make a difference in Houston County. Members must have some free time available to participate in community service projects.
Dues are $10.00 per year, payable to NHS JOOI by October of each year.
Typically, Junior Optimists work the bi-annual Mossy Creek Optimist booth, serve at the Optimist Bowl, and pick other local projects to carry out throughout the year.
2002-2003 projects included a canned food and clothing drive, providing Halloween treats for the Pre-K at Parkwood, painting fire hydrants for the City of Centerville, participating in the March of Dimes Walk-a-Thon, and helping raise money for a local elementary school student who needed training to learn to walk.
Attendance at meetings are crucial. Listen carefully to announcements for meeting dates and times.
